Frequently Asked Questions

What fitness level do I need?

Our trails range from relaxed (Mystery Fields, difficulty 2/5) to expedition-level (A Legendary Secret, difficulty 5/5). For most trails you should be comfortable cycling 50–80 km per day on unpaved terrain. We recommend training 3–4 months in advance, building up to longer rides on mixed surfaces. No racing experience required — a good base fitness and the right mindset are what matter most.

What size are the groups?

We keep groups small by design: maximum 16 participants per departure. This means a personal experience, flexible pace adjustments, and real contact with the local environment — not a tourist convoy.

What is included in the price?

Accommodation (lodges and camps), meals during the trail, experienced local guide, vehicle support, and all logistical organisation on location. Not included: flights, travel insurance, visa costs, and personal expenses. A full breakdown is provided upon registration.

Can I bring my own bike?

Yes. We recommend a solid mountain bike or gravel bike with reliable gearing. Bikes can be rented locally for an additional fee. Contact us for the current rental options and specifications.

Is cycling in Kenya and Tanzania safe?

We have been operating in East Africa since 2011 with a strong safety record. Our local partner Joel manages all logistics on the ground. Routes are carefully selected, we carry a first aid kit, and a support vehicle follows the group at all times. We brief participants thoroughly before departure on health, traffic and general safety.

Do I need a visa?

Most nationalities need a visa for Kenya and/or Tanzania. Both countries offer e-visa applications online. We advise applying at least 4 weeks before departure. Contact your embassy or check the official government travel advice for your nationality.

What vaccinations are required?

A Yellow Fever vaccination is required for entry into Kenya and Tanzania. We also recommend being up to date on Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Tetanus, and taking malaria prophylaxis. Consult your travel clinic at least 6–8 weeks before departure.

What happens in case of injury or illness?

We always travel with a support vehicle. In case of illness or injury, participants can ride in the vehicle for part or all of a day's stage. For serious medical situations, we coordinate with local hospitals and emergency services. Travel insurance including medical repatriation is mandatory for all participants.
